Hoopla is defined as excitement surrounding an event or situation….
A new kind of celebration is coming to Chattanooga Saturday, April 6 th . The quirky and aptly named Hope Hoopla promises to be an exciting night showcasing the radical hospitality of the Hope House. Set in the intimate and unique Granfalloon, guests can expect an assortment of silent auction items they can put to immediate use in their homes or around town. They can also expect a combination of gourmet dining and comfort food, with a few delicious surprises thrown into the mix.Every year, The Hope House serves nearly 10,000 free meals to the students of UTC. Often overlooked is the fact that nearly half of those students reported food insecurity at some point during their college experience. The students who visit the ministry know that they can not only count on a meal, but also a peaceful and welcoming atmosphere. In fact, that atmosphere is intentionally and carefully cultivated. The mission of The Hope House is to make God known by modeling the radical hospitality of Jesus Christ.
As I have sat working and observing in The Hope House over the course of the last few months, it has been striking to see the way in which students avail themselves of this resource. Watching young people walk through the doors and head straight to the kitchen, smiling and greeting everyone they meet is a sight to behold. It genuinely feels as though you are watching dozens of homecomings every single day.
The Hope Hoopla will be a celebration of that feeling of coming home, and the mission of radical hospitality. All net proceeds will go directly to carrying out the mission of Hope House and funding our meal program. There are several ways you can help with this initiative. First, purchase a ticket and join us! Tickets are $60 each or $350 for a table of six. Next, you can consider our sponsorship options which start at only $350. Finally, if you are able to donate or help procure items for our event auction, we would love to speak with you!
